2005 Øresund 2037

I was having lunch with my 90-year old father in a restaurant along the coast north of Copenhagen.  As I tried to maneuver him to safety across the slippery bridge, I gazed the pale cold moat with its layers of refrozen thaw.  Stubborn reeds protruded from decaying, crusty banks and sparkled in the reflections of the low winter rays of Scandinavia.

Beyond the moat, slush-laden waves thrashed against the giant boulders protecting the narrow path of land  from the bleak onslaught of the sound that runs in front of Hamlet’s Castle.
